A Coordinated Voltage–Frequency Support Scheme for Storage Systems Connected to Distribution Grids

Power electronics converters are utilized for interconnecting distributed energy storage systems into the grid. These can support stability of power system under abnormal grid conditions. In this article, a new coordinated voltage-frequency strategy is proposed considering reactance-to-resistance ratio impedance. Unlike conventional schemes transmission grids, where voltage and frequency decoupled, considers coupling between due to resistive characteristics impedance in low-voltage distribution grids. An advanced scheme also developed both droop-based virtual inertia control improving stability. The ensures fair compensation by utilizing an adaptive gain that calculated online according short-circuit fault characteristics. Simulations experimental tests carried out using laboratory setup validate strategy.
